GLACIER FALLS AT PACIFIC COAST SECTIONALSCongratulations to the following Glacier Falls club members for an outstanding effort at this year's 2009 Pacific Coast Sectional Championships: Sean Rabbitt Glacier Falls Christmas Party!Save the Date! The Annual Glacier Fall Christmas Party will be held on December 14th. Please check back for additional details as they become available. SOUTHWEST PACIFIC ROUND UPSean Rabbitt got tired of sitting in the back of the bus...and in a big way! Last year he watched his friends and fellow competitors get sent off to Junior Grand Prix events and decided he didn’t like being left behind. After graduating from High School in June, Sean decided to delay a semester before attending college. He wanted to see what he could accomplish if he just focused on his skating. What he accomplished was a short program that blew the roof off of Anaheim Ice and the socks off of the Judging and Technical panels. His fantastic short program and well skated long program earned him the second place silver medal in the Junior Men’s event. Sean will be representing Glacier Falls at the Sectional event in Arizona next month. His goal is to finish no lower than 4th so that he can move on to his first Nationals. The icing on the cake for the Rabbitt family was that his father, our club President, Don Rabbitt, was able to put the Silver Medal around his son’s neck in the awards ceremony. Good Luck Sean! In Junior Ladies, our very own Lexi Ibanez skated herself into an alternate position for Sectionals. Lexi skated 2 terrific programs with joy and precision despite having started UCLA this fall and having a change in her skating schedule. What a year of tremendous accomplishments for this talented young lady. Intermediate Ladies was just as exciting for Glacier Falls. Two of our outstanding skaters, Jackie La Barge and Cristy Plahy finished 14th and 16th respectively in the final round of the most competitive group of Intermediate Ladies to skate at the Southwest Pacific Region in a long time. The Championship Short Program was so fierce, only 1 competitor did not skate a clean program and the point spread between first and sixteenth place was just over 10 points. In Junior Ladies, there was a 10 point spread between first and sixth place after the short program! Congratulations to Jackie and Cristy for an exceptional year! In the Non-Qual section of the competition, with the exception of Open Juvenile, Glacier Falls had at least 1 skater on the podium in each event! Congratulations and hats off to their excellent placements!!!
With these results, and continued hard work for the upcoming future champions ... it's great to be part of the club who embraces all who skate. Junior Club Meetings ScheduledThe Junior Club Board meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 5:00pm in the rookery. The next meeting will be November 18th!
